The Antidote

Now that my bitching is out of the way (see below), I must share these pictures of Akris Fall 08 RTW. I will not intellectualize this collection. I love practically every piece. It looks luxe, comfortable, wearable and a just the slightest bit off-kilter. And I am so enjoying it's sophisticated vibe. Like a woman of a certain age, or her entirely hip daughter, could work from the same closet. Those skins (fur, suede) give some dazzle to the austerity. And the colours - or shall we call them neutrals - really appeal.

  1. I love the beige, gray, and brown/green colors/looks here. I once had a pair of shoes in that brown/green suede/leather combination and would love to find another pair. Akris is one of my favorite wearable, dreamable lines.

  3. Miss C: I'll keep my eyes open for a shoe that fits that description.

Addicted: I can see Katie in it too - it's the legs that go on forever look! But I actually think the collection would work on other body types (a curvier one, for example, too). Thanks for commenting. K

  5. I like the monochromatic, but never dull ensembles they put together. I was a fan of the last Akris collection as well.

  6. Riz: For starters, the brand is Swiss (why doesn't this surprise me?). It's family run and has been since its inception more than 80 years ago. It's got a very strong philosophy about clean lines and perfect tailoring and the collection being wearable for sophisticated women of all ages. Go figure. Amazingly, it's actually manufactured in Switzerland too. There is a diffusion line called akris punto that's available in places like Holt Renfrew or Saks. This is the only line I've actually seen up close. The rest has only been in pictures. The brand is molto expensive but, I imagine, if you're super rich, entirely worth the expenditure. K
