This is Marks & Sparks?!?!

Don't get me wrong, it was a sad day for me when M & S decamped Toronto, lo those many years ago. I loved their butter chicken, black current candies with licorice toffee centre (sounds gross but wasn't) and their bras weren't bad. I guess Lily Cole can make anything look great but I'm enjoying these wearable - and seriously affordable - looks.

  1. I miss the cookies, and prawn chips too! Wow I didn't know they had anything in the way of fashion for the under 85 set.

  2. Oh yeah, how could I have forgotten the prawn chips?? And how about the ones that looked like french fries but were salt and vinegar? And Twiglets - yummy marmite goodness!

There wasn't much fashion for the under 85 set, but the underwear managed to be sort of fashionable while still well constructed.

Feeling so sick today, Marth. Lying here in bed all day just hoping that this phase of the cold will move on. What is it about taking a long weekend?!? (I know, just about everyone feels lousy right now.)

  3. In response to your comment: the vest is H&M and the dress is Anthropolgie (a year ago on massive sale), I also layered a shirt which was Banana Republic outlet. I am a broke college student--cheap suits me!

  4. Cheap can be very chic! :-) It keeps us creative and that combo looks great on you. Thanks, K

  6. Wendy: I know, isn't it crazy? BTW, just checked out your site and I love those shoes you wore with the white skirt. Are they vintage? K

  7. I've always heard of M&S, but what exactly is it? It seems like it sells wonderful foods and underwear, but in one of my English reads it seems to sell everyhthing under the sun!

    and now stylish clothes too?

  8. Hi Linda: M & S is short for Marks and Spencer, a venerable English store that does seem to sell everything from great frozen food, to the best cookies and treats to umbrellas and basics, to underwear and clothing too! Check this out for more details: www.marksandspencer.com. As I mentioned in my post, this brand left Toronto about 5 years ago so I'm not too sure what they're up to, though they seem to be working on their image lately. K
