You know what makes it really hard to shut up and just knit the project you're actually working on? Like, the one you swatched and blocked for, and are 6 inches through the body of, and for which you stashed that ridiculous quantity of online-purchased wool...
Shit like
this (click on the image below to see the entire collection):
Whatever.
On the plus side, I'm 6 inches into this pattern:

Blanche Too by Susan Crawford |
Using this yarn:

Quince and Co. Chickadee in Lichen |
Of course, I have a lot to say about the whole process it but it's going to have to wait for another post...
In the meanwhile, thoughts or feelings about any of this?
I love that green! Brooklyn Tweed is always so tempting...
ReplyDeleteI know, it's like knitter crack!
DeleteOh, I so understand. This cardigan is an early test to my stash diet as I just don't have currently enough yardage for it. Big sad face. I'm going to console myself my casting on his Oshima pullover, which I do have yarn for! Will this one be next in your queue? And goes your current knitting lovely?
ReplyDeleteSigh. I'm going to try and ignore the many mistakes in that comment. And I'm going to fail.
DeleteI love that cardigan, and the oversized turtleneck (though it would look awful on me) and the long scarf. Eeek. I don't know what will be next because I don't know when I'm going to feel up to tackling serious fit. It might be the Custom Fit project. It might be those Starry Night socks. It might be that amazing Jewel Cardigan (with the excellent variation that Alexandra provided). I just don't know.
DeleteAnd I do like the sweater so far. I'm really being chill about the math. I need a math break.
It's a good thing that more than half of the designs are a bit oversized because I decided I would stick with fitted knits form now on (but I do love them all - Alloy and Nord are my faves). But the photography, good lord! Those photos make me want to pack it up and move to the coast and knit, knit, knit!
ReplyDeleteI know! You've got to take the detractors where you can get them :-)
DeleteI love that Susan Crawford pattern!! I can't wait to see the result!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm getting there :-) It's a pretty simple sweater, in case you're interested in giving it a go.
DeleteOh man, BT never fails! So timeless . . .
ReplyDeleteBUT: you're working with Chickadee in Lichen! That should be consolation enough!
It should be! BTW, since I found Tosh, the Quince just isn't the same. Don't get me wrong. It's a great, well-priced yarn, but it isn't the soft/firm bit of heaven that Tosh is.
DeleteI saw the new BT lookbook yesterday and squealed to myself. And then I realized I was probably in trouble since I made all this stash-using plans last week and already my resolve is crumbling...
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is going to be great on you!
Resolve. What's that??
DeleteWow. I am not a knitter at all, but I get the temptation to leave a UFO and go off in a totally different direction. I think that's the foundational rule of stash building... one plans gets derailed by an new one which gets derailed by yet another and so on. I love your current project. I stand amazed at the skill of knitters....
ReplyDeleteC'mon - join us! It's not hard to knit and we do rock :-)
DeleteI must admit I have few compunctions about having more than one knitting project on the go, but I'm really resisting temptation now, trying to finish the *cough* possibly 4 *cough* I'm juggling right now. There is some seriously gorgeous BT seduction going on!
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard not to get bamboozled by the 8 zillion gorgeous options out there.
DeleteBlogger just flashed me a Whoops! That's an Error! badge. . . not cute, not cute at all. Just tried to say I'm with you on trying to fend off the BT seduction. . . so tempting!
ReplyDeleteI'm not enjoying the comment errors I've been experiencing lately. It really takes the spontaneous joy out of the situation.
DeleteStoppit! It's bad enough that Fringe Association posts daily temptation without you joining in! ;-) I simply cannot knit fast enough...sigh!
ReplyDeleteI deserve that. :-)
DeleteYou're forgiven! :-D
