Here's hoping this aspirational post doesn't make you want to kill yourself. I always feel that I should include a "warning" when I post about design, something like: Potential trigger for people who swoon over stunning interiors but don't have the money, time or wherewithal to live like this. Proceed at your own risk!

You Can't Get if You Don't Ask

I think I might want this house. (And as it is my birthday tomorrow, feel free to gift it to me.) IMO, the bones are awesome, but many of the interiors need some refinement. Nonetheless, let's appreciate a couple of shots:




I do love me a good industrial facade.

Isn't the living room a lovely combo of good design and sexy with (a chaser of "people could actually lounge on that couch")? Alas, much of the rest of the house seems uninhabitable in its current layout. Still, it's got some serious potential.

A friend of mine recently told me that those ghost chairs look good until, on your way to the kitchen to get another bottle of wine, you happen upon someone's derriere smooshed against the clear back. Apparently, not attractive, for the most part. But let's imagine, for purposes of my imaginary dinner party, that all the bums are very toned and covered by well-fitting, high-waisted pants.

Regal

Victorian Perfection via Desire to Inspire

Living in a Victorian home, as I do, you know I absolutely appreciate the architectural style.

This specimen is particularly spectacular - if only because it's more than 15 feet wide! True to form, I LOVE the 3/4 bay window and the interior minimalism.

On a side note, I find it totally hilarious that my kid refers to everything in metric i.e. "Mummy, today I was standing 3 metres away from Jonah when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye..."

Long Weekend Pool

Wouldn't you just flip with pool / lake / landscape envy if I told you that I was going to this cottage for the weekend?


I seriously considered it - lies be damned - till it occurred to me that someone might have seen the shot on Desire to Inspire. Check out the interior photos. It's one fine place.

As read on desiretoinspire, this adorable (but moody) house front hides a light and airy, modern interior. I mean, just look at that backyard! (You know how I love me an urban garden.)

Oh, and it recently sold for 1.5 mill AUS. So it may be a while before it's back on the market.

It's clean, it's bright. It brings the lush outside world together with an austere, but comfortable interior.

I Want To Go To There

When you grow up in Southern Ontario, arguably the only exciting geographic element is the Canadian Shield. We spend our time machinating to get to the cottage - our own or someone else's.

I could really handle having a friend who'd invite me to spend a weekend surrounded by this:
