Gorgeous Lingerie I Own

I took a photo of the Panache "body" I bought a while ago, and then forgot to post it...

I highly recommend this piece. For starters, it's actually supportive. Nonetheless, it looks like a flimsy/sexy piece of lace - both on and off. It acts like Spanx on your abdomen - only not in a squishy, compressive way, more in a sassy, corseted way. It comes in numerous sizes, though alas, only a couple of colours. It's got snaps at the gusset so you can pee without pulling the whole thing down.

I love wearing it with a crisp, classic white blouse, the top 2 buttons of which are open to reveal the insanely good decollete this thing provides.

Oh, and I got it on sale from Figleaves (I've seen it on sale a few times) for some ridiculously low amount of money like 20 pounds.

If you want to channel your inner-French woman, this body suit is a must. Or should I say de rigeur.

Gorgeous Lingerie I Own

This is yet another Freya set - the purchase of which had me swear off Secrets From Your Sister for the last time. (Note: I won't link to this boutique because, despite the owner's valiant efforts to bring gorgeous lingerie to TO women of all shapes, I think her client service policy sucks.)

Interesting fact: It's my only wireless bra - for obvious reasons :-) It does provide excellent support but soft bras will not "separate" breasts. Unless you don't have any boobs to speak of, the construction of a soft bra will preclude separation. It's the wire in the wired-bra bridge (leading up to the sternum) which provides that desirable action.

Personally, I don't like that smush-up breast cleavage effect, so it's not my fave for this reason. But I love that there's a chic and supportive non-underwire bra for large breasts.

I also LOVE the retro thing that's going on. Both the shape and the pattern remind me of a by-gone era. The shape is actually somewhat pointy - a look I do like a lot. It also pushes everything front and centre, so if you have a narrow back but large breasts, it's likely to give you a seemingly slimmer silhouette.

One other thing - the undies are tremendously flattering. Boyish, but girlie, all at the same time.

What do you think of wire-free bras? Love 'em? Feel they're better for breast tissue? Hate 'em?

Weird but potentially useful PS: This style comes in a nursing bra version, fyi, in a variety of different patterns. It's the same general shape, though higher cut in the cup and in the side band, and constructed with snap flaps for easy feeding. Intriguingly, this version doesn't get terrific reviews...

Gorgeous Lingerie I Own

So, here's another Freya set. The bra is a balconette. This was the first "crazy pattern" bra I ever bought. It must be about 6 years old and I wear it weekly. There are 3 matching undies - 2 shorties and 1 thong. It gives an excellent shape and is muted enough to wear under a variety of light tops.

I remember being on top of the world when I found it. It seemed outrageously sexy but whimsical at the same time. And, of course, it's pink.

Gorgeous Lingerie I Own

I'm thinking of starting a new semi-regular series "Gorgeous Lingerie I Own", in which I profile a wonderful item from my own wardrobe for your viewing enjoyment. Or mine at least.

Let's start with this one:

It's a set by Freya (like many of my faves), in a beautiful acid yellow with pink floral accent. The velvet trim is particularly fantastic. The shot of the undies here shows them from the back, with a gorgeous key hole at the tailbone. They're softly ruffled at the bottom and vaguely boy-short-y (but in a totally feminine way).

My husband bought this for me, which is to say I took his credit card and signed it, after a particularly vicious fight. I wish this weren't what I thought of when I look at it... Alas, it's a beautiful set that looks gorgeous on.
