Um, yes, apparently. Norwegian TV station, NRK, intends to broadcast, uninterruptedly, 5 hours of competitive knitting. Look, I'm a girl who can't tell you the rules of hockey (a Canadian girl!), but I am watching this, dammit.
NRK does things like that. Thay have also transmitted 8 hours of trainride (camera in front) from a remote trainroute to the northern parts of Norway with very pretty landscape. Very popular. Probably very relaxing to watch.
Oh, I'd love to see this catch on to the extent that some of "their" favourite shows might get bumped by quarter-finals and semi-finals and some cup tournament or other. . . There are rules to hockey?
Competitive knitting? I find that strange, I associate yarn arts with a sense of community rather than competition. Like my Nana's stitch & bitch group or our online communities. But... I suppose there are some serious knitting skills out there that deserve their own showcase.
LOL - I'm a Canadian girl who doesn't know the rules of hockey. I don't even ... shh... don't tell anyone... like hockey and never watch it. Ever. I don't think I'd watch five hours of knitting either though. Hmm...
Form/Function. Line/Curve. Safe/Risk. Art/Craft. Body/Mind.
Fashion intersects these. It's how we express what is popular in what is personal. It's where intellect debates sex; where soft and hard duke it out. So much mystery underpins beautiful things. So much confidence rests upon them. Discuss.
Holly cow!
ReplyDeleteHoly sheep! :-)

ReplyDeleteI would totally watch that train ride!

ReplyDeleteApparently there are rules. Theoretically. :-)

ReplyDeleteI know but I love the sheep to finished garment element. That is a bit adrenaline-producing.

ReplyDeleteI am really glad to hear that I am not the only one! But I would watch this knitting - if only after taping it to fast-forward, as necessary.
