Guess Brittney Cut Off Short (High Waist) |
- These are not high-waisted. They're real-waisted. I'm short-waisted and they hit my navel. I mean, they don't even hit the navel of the model in the pic above?! I'm so sick of brands telling you that something is high-waisted when it's barely mid-height.
- If you can find these at a discount vendor, or online, the price is excellent. I don't know if I'd pay list for them (70 bucks). But then, I have no real interest in denim cut offs as a concept. These are a means to an end: durable shorts that look cute and don't need to be babied while I'm traveling.
- They are nicely vanity sized, which is to say that the denim has a good amount of stretch and great recovery. I bought a 28 and my waist is 30".
- The ones I found are lighter wash than those above, but not distressed. I mean, I'm 44. I'm not wearing shorts with holes in them.
- Yeah, they're short. They're cut offs, obvs. But they are very appropriately short. The way I found them was in trying to get my kid to buy them. Needless to say, she found them ridiculously long.
Today's questions: Do you own cut offs? Do you feel there's an age limit (or any other limitations) to wearing this style? Let's talk.
No cut-offs for me, or any short shorts for that matter. I'm pear shaped so I don't have the fantastic legs for them, not to mention it gets very humid here in the summer and I hate the feeling of my legs sticking against each other, to the wooden chair I'm sitting on, against my HOT leather car seats, etc.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's an age limitation for them. Yes, high school and college age girls look best in them but I've also seen some 50-something women that happen to have great legs carry them off really well.
I agree - it's not so much about age but about the appearance of the legs!
DeleteUh no.....but then again I'm 56! Let's talk legs....when my son was eye level with my thighs, he used to point to them and say "Mommy you have a bruise" uh not so much that's actually permanent. You get the picture...so cut-offs are a no-go along with any other type of short item :( so sad.
ReplyDeleteHilarious!
DeleteI wear cut offs, I don't think that there is a real age limit. But it really matters where to wear and how. I can imaging myself wearing slightly distressed cut offs with a super relaxed top walking along the beach barefoot in my 60s, but I can't imaging myself going out in them now, in my 30s. Or wearing them with a clingy jersey top outside the house.
ReplyDeleteInteresting take - it's all about the styling...
DeleteYou go girl! Love them. Yes I have some "round the house cutoffs", but then I'm much older than you. Have a great vacay!
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm sure you are gorgeous in yours, Faye.
Deleteit's funny you post this, as i've been wanting a pair lately! i'm a jeans girl 9 months out of the year, but i always wear skirts or twill shorts come summertime--not denim. no reason, that's just how it's been!
ReplyDeleteWell, we know you can make them!
DeleteI just took a pair of cut offs on vacation. They may a tad longer than yours, but I'm 51, lol. Like anything else, if you're comfortable and it looks good, age is just a number. And if you have a teenaged fashionista to keep you in line (she wouldn't be caught dead in my old lady length shorts) you can't go too far wrong.
ReplyDeleteI did love them for vacay - no worries about being careful! They're kind of indestructible...
DeleteI'm not sure there's an age limit for cut-offs. They've never been my thing, even in my teens and 20s. I'm long-waisted and any shorts (or pants) that are too low aren't comfortable for me.
ReplyDeleteI think there's more of a mind-limit :-)
DeleteLOL at ridiculously long! ha ha ha. Wearing cut-offs now!
ReplyDeleteThat child wears shorts that are shocking.
DeleteI have not worn short shorts since I was 16!!! Despite being relatively slim, and probably because I carry the bulk of my weight in my thighs (and don't exercise), I've had horrible cellulite since I was fourteen. I can't wear short skirts or short without being horrified at myself. But you can certainly work it, girl!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the concerns - but I think you are too hard on yourself. And I am one of those people who really doesn't care about cellulite. It's just a bit of texture!
