Just a quick note to tell y'all that there's no predicting the creative spirit. As you know, I've been beyond apathetic when it comes to the majority of my hobbies lately, but that appears to be changing. In the last week I've purchased a new pattern (pdf for instant gratification, not that the assembly gives much of that), researched recipes for lotions, designed a label for my potions and I'm feeling rather compelled to knit.
I also bought a crazy, fancy blender - not for juice (though it juices - hell, this thing is so fancy it does your menu planning for you) but to make up those nut milk I'm addicted to. I've got some organic, raw cashews and almonds soaking now. Can't wait to blend ridiculous (and healthful) smoothie-like beverages - especially for my teenager who eats and drinks everything in sight, goodness notwithstanding. Chocolate always goes over well - even if it happens to be healthy. There may be a little addition of booze in the grown-up version, you know, simply in the spirit of experimentation.
Stay tuned for more...

Happy to hear your spirit is rebounding!
ReplyDeleteMe too. The trick will be to moderate my activity. Hmmm...
DeleteGlad you are doing well K! I have a vitamix I bought over Christmas, (refurbished with a coupon on top of that) and I LOVE It. I can't believe how much.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the Vitamix but the foot print is LARGE. My kitchen doesn't have the space, so I went with the Blendtec...
DeleteIt's great that your energy is back! I bought a Blendtec a few months ago, and I love it. I'd been reluctant because of the cost, but I was making smoothies at least once a day for my almost-vegan son, and the immersion blender just wasn't up to the job. My model keeps track of the smoothie cycles, and I've done over 100. There are great smoothie recipes on mynewroots.org and ohsheglows.com, including some chocolate versions. Neither of these women include booze, but there's nothing to stop you from modifying recipes to your taste!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty shocking to spend that kind of coin on a blender, I agree. But good machines always pay for themselves, I've learned. Oh, I think my model also keeps track - I was wondering what that number is... And thanks so much for those links.
DeleteGlad you are getting through your slump. I don't have a fancy schmancy blender, but I'd like to know how your nut milk experiments go--some cashews might have enough protein to make a smoothie a breakfast that will last more than 15 minutes...
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I drink it in 4 seconds and it's not like bacon and eggs! But it does fill me up...
DeleteI make smoothies daily (fruit, spinach, almond butter), but I buy my almond/coconut milk!
ReplyDeleteTry making it, just once! Once you taste the difference, I don't know that you'll be able to go back to the store-bought almond milk. And I used to drink a lot of store bought almond milk. Let me know!
