Who's Counting?

Hey Peeps: I'm going to be a bit inactive blog-wise this week, not because I don't have anything to say (trust me, it's exciting times here), but because I've got a major work deadline that all happens on Friday. It's the culmination of months of work, and I'm optimistic it's all going to land well -but now the push is on.

Let me say, though, that I will post about my fab forays into fabric/sew shopping and actually making something. Yeah, I know, it might have been prudent to wait for my many books to arrive by mail, or my sewing basics course in mid-Nov., before I started to make clothing... But I didn't say I was careful :-)

Word to wise: My 1-hour Easy! pattern - took 15 hours.

(And yet it was a great learning experience.) But oh, my neck and shoulders.

  1. The sewing will get easier and more relaxed.

It took me one year to knit my first garment, a simple vest (yes a vest) size 6, so not big either. I'm all for enthusiasm.

  2. Can't wait to see what you made. As you may have read on my blog, I can't even sew patches on a boy scout shirt. I can, however, do buttons. Il faut!

  5. i also finished up with a huuuuge deadline yesterday. i'm with ya on the adrenaline push of the home stretch!

i've been taking a weekly evening sewing class at make workshop in nyc, and i feel like i've learned so much already in only a month! i highly recommend her book; it's called "s.e.w." and includes a ton of patterns. definitely the best sewing book for beginners.

i'm in the middle of making a dress and can't wait to finish it in two weeks :D sewing is definitely up there with cooking as my favorite indulgent 'me-time' after a long day of work.

Miss Sophie: The similarities are eerie! I have heard of that book and I'm going to look into it online. Thanks! And good going with the dress...

    Bel: Photos coming. Promise.

J: It is entirely deceiving! Thanks for your well-wishes. Project came together in the end.
