On the Flipside

I'm good, even when I'm drunk:

Alas, this is what passes for daylight on a cloudy day in October...
No, there isn't any art on the walls because, apparently, I cannot commit.

Here are brochure photos:

Style Garage Delano Chair in White Leather
Gus* Margot Sofa
The couch is spectacular. It is the most luscious velvet ever (and I don't even like velvet). The chair is super modern, but warm.

The old couch (from the back room) was picked up - on the dot of 12:30 - by a darling French woman who just moved to TO and got her apt. on Oct. 1. Craigslist curbside for the win. The living room couch was then unceremoniously (but wall scuffingly) moved to the back room. (Damn that former living room couch is deep. It's kind of eating the back room, not that I have to care cuz soon it will be a whole new room - she says, as if all the leg work has been done.)

So, whatcha think?

  2. Nice! I wondered how this would turn out. I sometimes have similar problems with very late night online ordering. Love that shade of blue. Tami

    1. You and I both! It's a really amazing shade of blue - so rich. Scott keeps calling it purple - which it is NOT.

    1. Ha! I'm channeling my inner, minimalist (but luxe) French woman with that couch. It's like I'm on vacation in Europe every time I sit down!

    1. Thank you Evie! Notice how I never show the kitchen? (When I do that reno, I will never stop showing photos of the kitchen!) Those windows sold me on the house, in truth.

Little story: The coverings were provided by the former owners. They were made by the mother-in-law who'd escaped Germany with the fabric during WW2. It was one of the only things she saved and she gave the curtains to her son as a housewarming. When they moved to California (to a totally diff style of house) they realized that the curtains would languish in a box. So they offered them to us because they felt that they were part of the home. I keep thinking I should refresh them but, really, I find them very lovely.

  6. Very nice! I had a velvet couch in my old house and loved it so much. I was gutted that it couldn't fit up the stairs in this house. Also - I don't have any art either, for the very same reason!

  7. My mother told me that velvet wears longest, is easy to clean and develops a great patina. What's not to love?
