I live in Wellington, New Zealand, so I'm familiar with most of the weather you describe! Not sure if they have stores in Canada, but they do have a Canadian website. ☺Eugenie Thomson-Burrowshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12146776398680095874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-77435369468793023722017-04-24T18:27:43.887-04:002017-04-24T18:27:43.887-04:00Wow H. At least we know what to wear :-) I tend to do the same as you, with the Ts (except, when they disappoint - as they sometimes do - then I've got 6 of them hanging around!). Frivolous (below comment) suggests Uniqlo. I am embarrassed to say that it's been SO long since I've gone to the Eaton Centre that I didn't know they'd opened that brand in TO. In about 4 months, I have completely overhauled my formerly-lame-ass stock of long-sleeved tees for layering. They have a line called "heat tech" which are great for winter or cooler weather, and they also have a warm weather line called Air-somethingorother. I am in LOVE and highly recommend them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-54079109050507857232017-04-23T15:30:16.417-04:002017-04-23T15:30:16.417-04:00I wear the bright colors all the time, so... :) I...I wear the bright colors all the time, so... :) I almost never wear black. It looks terrible on me. I always feel very cool and put together when I go into shades of neutrals (ivory/camel, for me) but then I pile on the bright accessories 'cause I just *can't* leave it alone.Hearthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17755578765945858847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-50935259102831436282017-04-23T15:28:57.003-04:002017-04-23T15:28:57.003-04:00Mostly because the humidity and temperature change...Mostly because the humidity and temperature changes so quickly. They bring up fires... and smog... so, yes, allergies. We had an unseasonal SA the spring before last, it dried a rosebloom - on the bush, before it had even opened.
Imagine, after a long, hot summer - by which I mean three months when the temp hasn't dropped below 80 during the day - and one day, the humidity drops to 10%. The winds blow from the opposite direction. And the heat rises. Yes, it's a dry heat, but suddenly we're talking upper nineties. It's about at day 3-4 when people start getting wonky. It won't have rained since April, and this is usually September/October. So, all around you, there's crunchy brown brush, and the wind and the heat and the dryness are so intense that fires start just 'cause. Oh, and you're not like to see another drop of rain until mid-November. The air is filthy, sometimes a lovely shade of orange on the horizon... no, they're not nice. Why is it that no mass market retailer has been willing to produce a reasonably priced, widely available all year round, basic crew neck T-shirt in both long and short sleeves? Preferably in both plain cotton and cotton with a bit of lycra, and always available in white, black, gray, and navy (and maybe some additional, sophisticated colorways; these might change over time as long as the standard colors continue). But keep to the same basic shirt ALL THE TIME. I need to wear and replenish these all the time, all year round. I've had some luck with Target and Banana Republic--and when I find something that works, I buy up a whole bunch and hope they will last until the next time someone produces an acceptable version. I can and do make some T-shirts, but I don't have that much time to sew and I'd rather buy these if I could find them. Simons is new to me, so that's good to know about.Mapmakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11183642128130259266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-58204889162426443502017-04-22T10:13:05.891-04:002017-04-22T10:13:05.891-04:00Bizarrely, we all found ourselves (my posse) retur...Bizarrely, we all found ourselves (my posse) returning underwear at the Gap (my friend's) at 8:30 pm?! I checked the T shirt pile and someone must have returned a size M in the T I love. I GRABBED that baby. I prefer the small (they all have so much stretch) for the fit in the shoulders, but I'm not going to be fussy. Desperate times! I have thought so often - if I had my serger I'd be knocking out 4 t shirts. Oh well. On bicycle paths all the way in either direction...

But it is more fun to go there. Simons management have always promoted the arts and have a beautiful glass mobile in downtown MTL. They offered the city of Québec a historic fountain from France for Québec's 400th anniversary.
