Start with simple projects such as pillow cases and table runners. These simple projects also require pattern making, sewing with a machine, and sewing straight lines. This will train you how to sew a dress eventually.Jade@How to Sewhttp://www.how-to-sew-a-dress.org/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-46432679129874892682011-12-29T23:17:57.040-05:002011-12-29T23:17:57.040-05:00This is sooo cute! I'm so glad to hear that a mega-sewist such as yourself still takes a "long time" to complete a skirt. I think you're right about how those finishings add on the time. As does set up and clean up, and cutting and marking - oh man, it's just all time consuming!

Katy: Thank you!K.Linehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15350615302797686048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-79429064922344556682011-12-29T18:17:45.597-05:002011-12-29T18:17:45.597-05:00Your Ginger skirt indeed looks cute. The waistband variations are lovely and I adore the simple a-line. And I think it takes me longer to whip one of these out than 5 hours and I've made it 4 times. I just have no idea how people sew fast, but I am convinced they leave things out like lovely finished seams, and beautiful facings. This is delightful!

xoxo, SunniSunnihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16380215145775412897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-78059684784191283212011-12-29T15:52:06.389-05:002011-12-29T15:52:06.389-05:00you are so admirably productive! & you're ...you are so admirably productive! & you're selling me on the Colette patterns. off to take a look...s.i. michaelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06327405906167939684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-38376104408020784802011-12-29T12:38:44.977-05:002011-12-29T12:38:44.977-05:00Ooooh, Ginger! I love the contrasting facing - I'm always too lazy to cut facings in a different fabric.

I made four of these, and they all took me about 4 - 5 hours, so you're not alone.
