If you read on - see December's post called Earth and Sky - it actually all worked out in the end. But I did think the cast on was too tight at first (even though I was careful to keep it even).K.Linehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15350615302797686048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-25698514767876367882012-12-30T18:33:29.290-05:002012-12-30T18:33:29.290-05:00Looking at your knitting I would venture to commen...Looking at your knitting I would venture to comment that the cast-on looks too tight. I would cut off the cast-on row and redo it (joining the yarn neatly, of course)as a loose cast-off (do you guys call this binding off??). If this appeals, try it- otherwise frog & forget!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-60757691035517397632012-12-06T10:44:31.245-05:002012-12-06T10:44:31.245-05:00OK, it's done now and I really do think it'...OK, it's done now and I really do think it's going to be excellent. Kind of like tree bark in a natural/minimalise/japanese type aesthetic.

(Though maybe I have been living in a concrete jungle too long and am pining for the 'natural world' a bit much?)

Either way - I'd wear it!!!Lindahttp://fromthepurlside.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-89645371508484497682012-12-04T10:52:37.879-05:002012-12-04T10:52:37.879-05:00Hey Lois: Excellent natural talent. And the scarf is actually turning out to be less hideous than I was imagining it would be. I mean, I'm not totally sold yet but I'll post a more updated pic soon...K.Linehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15350615302797686048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-15212982766686670122012-12-04T10:51:30.157-05:002012-12-04T10:51:30.157-05:00Faking it (in this context :)) is good! I see it as another way of saying you're tenacious.

I have another pic of the scarf as it's taking shape and it's not as bad as I feared it would be. Maybe it's even fungally pleasant?K.Linehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15350615302797686048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-35739801001563638342012-12-03T20:14:20.160-05:002012-12-03T20:14:20.160-05:00I'm with Clio, I don't see much of redeemi...I'm with Clio, I don't see much of redeeming value at the moment (and it may be the fault of my computer screen.)

My natural talent is not knowing when to let it go. Sometimes that results in a wearable project, and sometimes it doesn't.

Lois KAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1606088928583067206.post-2335832643103490942012-12-03T17:02:51.863-05:002012-12-03T17:02:51.863-05:00Wow, ok, I think my only natural talent is faking ...Wow, ok, I think my only natural talent is faking it. I just fake fake fake like I can do something until some how I've become so good at faking that I really can do it. Oh and I have an unusual and frenetic talent for destruction. As good as I can be at making (with much trying and effort), I am loads better at (just simply and naturally) destroying.

Now what I would do - and I am not recommending this because it relates to my talents and not necessarily what I think is best for you - is that I would frog the thing with as much vigor and glee as a five year old unwrapping presents on xmas morning. That would bring me intense joy. But I have a feeling that you will persevere and it will be beautiful in an organic, possibly fungal, way.
